Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Tuesday directed the government officials to immediately engage in installing four mechanical bridges in the flood-ravaged Melamchi area of Sindhupalchowk district.
A meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority chaired by the Prime Minister at Singha Durbar this evening decided to construct four mechanical bridges in the flood-hit Melamchi area immediately to make life easier in the affected areas.
The Authority has been given the responsibility of arranging necessary budget while the responsibility of the construction work of the bridges has been given to the Nepali Army, CEO of the Authority Anil Pokhrel said.
He said, “It has been decided to construct four mechanical bridges immediately to make the life of displaced people of Melamchi area easier.”
The meeting also decided to make necessary arrangements for food and temporary shelters in the flood and landslide affected areas including Manang, Gorkha and Bajura districts. Pokhrel said that it has been decided to immediately start transporting food, temporary accommodation, medicine and other essential services to those areas by helicopter from Wednesday morning.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister and NDRRMA chairman Deuba had alerted all the concerned bodies to work effectively to respond to the disasters including floods and landslides.
