Though Oli has yet to officially inform the public about his transplant, sources say that a distant granddaughter of the PM will be donating her kidney.

According to NCP spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha, PM Oli briefed about his plan to undergo the transplant at a party secretariat meeting held at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

The 69-year-old prime minister had undergone his first kidney transplant at the Apollo Hospital in India in 2007 after both his kidneys failed to function.

The prime minister also underwent an appendicitis surgery in November last year.
