Police team deployed from Dhangadhi for investigation of female ex-Myadi police in Baitadi


A police team has been deployed from Dhangadhi to investigate the murder case of 21-year-old Maya Luhar of Pancheswor rural municipality-4, Baitadi.

Sudurpaschim Province Police Office has deployed a team for investigation after the case turned out to be a sensitive matter.

Maya Luhar, who was selected as Myadi Police during elections, had returned to her hometown after completion of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly election.

On Tuesday morning, Maya and 15-year-old Neha Luhar, had gone to the market to get their clothes stitched. As they didn’t return till late night, the family went to the police. The local police, on Wednesday evening, found Maya dead and her throat was slit.

SSP Bhola Bahadur Rawal, spokesperson for Provincial Police Office, informed that a team led by Deputy Inspector of Police has been sent to Baitadi for investigation.

According to the police, Neha was also found with her throat slit, however, she is alive and being treated in Dadeldhura hospital as she is in a serious condition.

The police said that they have received preliminary information that an officer of Armed Police Force may be involved in the crime and he is currently absconding.

The identity of the APF officer has been kept confidential and Baitadi Police Chief, DSP Prem Bahadur Shahi said that further information will be revealed only after completion of the investigation.
