President Bhandari Suggests To Forward Plans Of Public Interest


President Bidya Devi Bhandari has suggested the people’s representatives’ organisations to forward the plan of public welfare by identifying the available means and resources and evaluating the capacity of its mobilization as per people’s interest.

Inaugurating the third National Council of Association of District Coordination Committees of Nepal (ADDCN) here today, President Bhandari said that activities should be carried out keeping human development along with infrastructure in priority for the overall transformation of the country.

She opined, “People’s representative’s organisations should contribute to building equitable society by increasing educational and social awareness.”

Lauding the role played by local levels in prevention, control, and treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President said, “I want to appeal to and call on people’s representatives to facilitate public activities at a time when coronavirus infection has not completely come under control.”

Similarly, Chairperson of the ADDCN, Sita Sundas, shared about the various efforts carried out by the organisation under her leadership for people’s welfare.

ADDCN Vice-president Santa Bahadur Tamang complained that the Federation was neglected as the three tiers of government were competing in establishing their say in monitoring, coordination and facilitation of the development construction and service delivery works.

He argued that the District Coordination Committee should be developed as the agency to monitor all types of plans and projects run in the district.

President of Municipal Association of Nepal, Ashok Kumar Byanju said compared to the federal and provincial governments, the local governments were playing an effective role in justice adjudication, budget formulation, construction and development work, and service delivery.

President of the National Association of Rural Municipality in Nepal, Hom Narayan Shrestha said that the local levels have carried out excellent works even on matters which are not under their scope of work and which have not been stated in their laws.

The chief and deputy chief among the officials of the Federation from 77 districts of the country are participating in the National Council. It was shared on the occasion that the federation has been successful in establishing an understanding of the need and effectiveness of the organisation in the last four years.

On the occasion, President Bhandari launched a book incorporating the introduction of the office-bearers of every district along with five outstanding works carried out in the district. The book is published by the Federation.
