The Korea Engineering Consultants Corporation (KECC), an implementation agency of Basic and Conditional Infrastructure Project, handed over ‘Deep Boring Tube Well, Bridge, Improved Village Road, and Renovated School Facility’ to Madhyabindu Municipality.
Mayor Chandra Bahadur Rana, delegates from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korean Experts Evaluation Team were present during the handing over ceremony, according to a press statement issued by KOICA Nepal Office.
Mayor Rana expressed his appreciation to the Korean Government and stakeholders for the continuous support to Nepal in different sectors.
“The facilities supported through the project will help strengthen the productivity as well as livelihood of the entire municipality,” said Rana.
Similarly, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Praladh Kumar Karki extended his congratulations to KECC and KOICA.
The Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA has been providing support in Nawalparasi with its “Inclusive Rural Development Project”. The Government of Nepal and the Government of the Republic of Korea officially signed a MoU on July 24, 2015 for the project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Country Director at KOICA Nepal Office Sunghoon Ko said, “We wish to see the projects sustain and that all the community of Nawalparasi is benefited with the infrastructures in the days to come.”
Similar other facilities of the IRDN project at different sites implemented by KECC will be handed soon to the respective municipalities, he said.
The government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA has been working in the sectors of education, health, agriculture and rural development, and ICT since 1991 through projects and volunteer assistance to Nepal.
