Rajesh Hamal, Dayahang Rai, Prakash Saput To Host 2nd Season Of Jaat Ko Prashna

The second season of Jaat Ko Prashna will go on air on Kantipur TV from 8 October.
Jaat Ko Prashna, produced by the Samata Foundation, is a strategic campaign aimed at strengthening the marginalised community’s resistance against systemic discriminations created by the caste system, read a statement of the Foundation.

The 12-episode television programme, which was aired last year amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent lockdown, has sparked dialogues against caste-based discrimination and untouchability, and against the caste system based on patriarchy, said the organiser.
Jaat Ko Prashna was also among the final 30 contestants selected for the World Justice Challenge 2021.

According to the press statement, the campaign aims at encouraging Dalit resistance by protecting and promoting the fundamental human rights guaranteed to Dalits by the Constitution. Similarly, it also aims to increase Dalits’ access to justice and improve the justice delivery mechanism in Nepal.

Samata Foundation has created the second season of Jaat Ko Prashna to shape the narrative that all castes and ethnicities must be engaged in conversations about caste, and that caste must become a common issue.
The programme will be hosted by superstar Rajesh Hamal, actor Dayahang Rai, fromer member of National Human Rights Commission Mohana Ansari, singer Prakash Saput, and media person Nishma Dhungana Choudhary.
Superstar Hamal had hosted the show in the first season.

Directed by Shanta Nepali, journalist Bibek Regmi and writer Bhanu Bokhim along with researchers from Samata Foundation have contributed to the research and writing for the programme.
Established in 2009, Samata Foundation has published more than 50 books on Dalit and other marginalised communities, and has been conducting policy advocacy for them.
