Re-election in Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura district is scheduled for July 7.
An all party meeting held on Thursday decided to hold the re-election on Thursday, July 7. According to the Election Office of Budhiganga Municipality, the re-election has been scheduled for July 7 after the ruling Nepali Congress and main opposition CPN-UML reached an agreement in the all-party meeting held on Thursday.
Local level election was earlier held in Budhiganga Municipality on May 13, when the Election Commission held the poll in all local levels across the country. However, the process of vote counting could not begin because of disputes among the two major parties.
Vote counting of the municipality remained stalled in the midst of allegations of irregularities for a long. The EC later directed the election officer to scrap the vote-counting process and hold re-election.
There was a controversy in the six of 10 wards in the municipality. In wards 2, 3, 5 and 9 CPN-UML cadres had taken control of the booths and voted in their favour while the same was done in wards 4 and 7 by the Nepali Congress.
Election Officer of Budhiganga Municipality said after the repeated efforts, the date of the election has finally fixed with the consent of both the parties after repeated efforts.
