The five-party coalition candidates have maintained their lead in the vote-counting in Bharatpur Metropolitan City in the Chitwan district.
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Renu Dahal, who is running for the post of mayor as the common candidate of the five-party coalition, is at the forefront with 6, 927 votes. CPN (UML)’s Bijay Subedi is second to Dahal with 6,672 votes.
Similarly, independent candidate Jagannath Poudel is in the third position in the vote-counting with 3,391 votes.
Likewise, in the deputy mayoral race, Nepali Congress’s Chitrasen Adhikari is leading with 8,428 votes followed by Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Himala Gurung with 5,500 votes, according to the Office of the Returning Officer.
Currently, vote counting for Bharatpur Metropolitan City ward number 5 is underway. Five-party coalition candidate Yudda Prasad Shrestha has secured 1,464 votes while CPN (UML)’s Padampani Subedi has 1,353 so far.
A total of 127, 839 votes were cast in the Bharatpur Metropolitan City in the May 13 local level election.
The winners of wards no 1, 2 and 4 are already declared where Nepali Congress candidates emerged victoriously. whereas CPN (UML) candidate secured the win in Ward no. 3.
