The Nepali Congress Central Election Committee got results of district committee general convention in 35 districts till Saturday evening.
Committee member Tej Rawal informed that the committee recorded the conclusion of only 35 district general convention.
The committee on Saturday got election result of Rupandehi, Nuwakot, Khotang, and Darchula.
The district conventions have seen a wide variety of candidates ranging from student leaders like 41-year-old Himal Dutta Shrestha to former ministers like Romi Gauchan Thakali elected as the district chairpersons. Shrestha, who is the former general secretary of the Nepal Student Union, has been elected as the chairman of Palpa district while Thakali has won the chairmanship of Mustang.
According to the Central Election Committee, Narendra Bahadur Singh has been elected in Doti, Deependra Bahadur Shahi in Dolpa, Karna Bahadur Shahi in Jumla, Bed Raj Singh in Jajarkot, Tejendra Khanal in Okhaldhunga and Dr. Tak Raj Gurung in Lamjung.
Similarly, Bhim Bahadur Saud has been elected chairman of Dadeldhura district, Rup Narayan Jawegu has been elected in Panchthar, Kes Bahadur Bista in Salyan, Shankar Gurung in Manang, Khadak Bohara in Bajhang, Mohan Bikram Singh in Humla, Gajendra Tumyahang in Taplejung, Kanchha Ram Tamang in Ramechhap, Ain Bahadur Shahi in Mugu and Khambeer Garbuja in Myagdi.
Additionally, at the helm of the party in Khotang is Bishnu Rai, in Syangja Raju Thapa, in Rolpa Kishor Acharya, in Rukum West Prem Prakash Oli, in Terhathum Arjun Bahadur Tumbahamfe, in Bhojpur Binod Bantawa, in Pyuthan Bishnu Kumar Giri, in Arghakhanchi Keshav Shrestha, in Baitadi Chatur Bahadur Chand, in Rukum East Keshar Man Roka, in Sankhuwasabha Deepak Khadka, in Gorkha Nanda Prasad Neupane, in Dolakha Barma Lama, in Kalikot Amma Bahadur Shahi and in Bajura Ram Singh Rawal.
Meanwhile, the election process will start before the 14th general convention of the NC is formally inaugurated. However, most districts had begun the general convention. But they were not reported to the committee stating the convention concluded.
Although the inaugural programme of the General Convention will be held on December 10, the election process will start on December 7.
Secretary of the party’s Central Election Committee and Advocate Jagannath Shrestha informed that the election process will start even before the formal process of the General Convention begins.
The list of delegates to the General Convention will be made public first under the election process. Before that, all the districts will have to complete the regional convention. All wings, well-wishers and various public relations committees abroad will also have to submit the list of delegates to the General Convention.
The nomination process of party office bearers and central member candidates is likely to start on December 8 and 9. But the Election Committee has not made a formal decision on the issue. He informed that this will be finalised on December 7 and the election schedule of the General Convention will be made public.
Publicity committee gets full shape NC’s publicity committee formed under spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma for its 14th General Convention acquired full shape on Saturday with the appointment of Jiwan Pariyar, Kiran Yadav, Kiran Giri, Abhishek Pratap Shah, Janak Raj Kalauni and Dilip Rai.
According to Prakash Sharma, secretary of NC’s central office, office-bearers of Congress’ Department of Information, Communication and Publicity as well as sister and well-wishing organisations along with chairpersons and coordinators of liaison offices hold responsibilities in the publicity committee.
