Revenue From Police Actions Rise By 33%


Revenue collected by Nepali Police under various criminal actions and operations has increased by 33 per cent.
In the last fiscal year of 2020/21, the Nepal Police has collected Rs. 2.90 billion under various eight headings. In the fiscal year 2019/20, Rs. 2.17 billion was collected, said Basanta Kunwar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Spokesperson for Nepal Police.
The highest portion of revenue was collected from traffic violation operation. Police have collected Rs. 1.16 billion from traffic violation alone.
Compared to the fiscal year 2019/20, the revenue collected from traffic operations has increased by 30 per cent. In the fiscal year of 2019/20, only Rs. 889.79 million was collected.
Police have also collected Rs. 271.591 million from illegal gold seizures. This collection amount has increased by more than 33 per cent as compared to FY 2019/20. Similarly, the police had collected revenue of Rs. 7.52 million from illegal silver seized in the last fiscal year. In the Fiscal Year 2019/20 only Rs. 37.49 million was collected.
Likewise, revenue collection from illegal goods, illegal timber, court decisions and other items has increased by more than 30 per cent on an average.
