Road To Tinkar, Chhangru Disrupted (With Photos)

Connectivity of Chhangru and Tinakar villages of Darchula district has been cut off due to the damage to the road caused by the rainfall.

Ashok Singh Bohara, ward chair of Byas Rural Municipality-1, said that the road linking Chharu with Dumling of ward no 1 of the rural municipality has been eroded at multiple points by the Mahakali River as the river has been swollen with mud and aggregate besides monsoon rains. As Indian side has been constructing road along the river and throwing debris into the river, the river has been blocked at times and eroded the road in Nepal side, according to Bohara. The road on Nepal side also goes along the river.

Ward Chair Bohara said as the road on Nepal side connecting the villages has been entirely disrupted, it is impossible to move to and fro the two villages and the villages have been lost road linkage with Khalanga, the district headquarters.

Disruption of the road has made it difficult for transporting foods and construction materials. Communication services have also been out of order for the last seven months in the two villages as the services got damaged following a heavy snowfall.
