Second dose of anti-Covid jabs to be administered April 20 onwards

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is all set to provide the second dose of anti-coronavirus vaccine from April 20 to April 24 to those who have received the first dose in the first phase.

Nepal currently has 550,000 vaccines in stock for the second dose.

A meeting of the Ministry’s Incident Command System (ICS) decided to administer the second dose to those who were vaccinated in first phase from January 27 to February 22.

As of Wednesday, a total of 1.65 million people have been vaccinated in Nepal.

According to MoHP spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam, Nepal will soon receive remaining one million doses of Covishield vaccines purchased from the Serum Institute of India.

He added that information about providing the first dose of vaccine to citizens between age 55 and 64 years will be issued soon.

The Family Welfare Division of MoHP stated that the vaccination program was postponed for some time as no additional vaccine has been received after the 1 million doses from India.
