The locals of remote Airawati Rural Municipality -1, in Sirseni, Pyuthan, are preparing for homestay in the village. Members of Sirseni Swabalamban Samuha have outlined a plan to generate income from the hospitality business.
Rita Saru Magar, proprietor of the homestay, said that they had a plan to start the business from nine houses in the village.
“We are completing some legal procedures for the business like firm registration now. Then we will select appropriate houses initially and expand the service gradually,” she said.
According to Magar, locals had prepared rooms and collected other essentials for the selected houses. “Almost all the preparations have now completed, we will make an announcement of the services very soon,” she added.
Nabina Gurung, a local resident in Sirseni was optimistic about the business. “The door of opportunity is about to open for us where we will offer services to the visitors with local products while also earning money in the process,” she said. She added that the local products would get their market easily as good weather could many tourists.
There are 86 houses in Sirseni and most of them are from Gurung community. Visitors can enjoy the Gurung culture first hand there.
Magar said they planned to prepare a culture house with various instruments used by the community on different occasions, along with their customs.
“The municipality has earmarked budget for the construction of the building.”
Kalika Bikash Kendra and Stroma Foundation have been promoting the hospitality business in the village.
