The local administration in Rukum Purba has started preparing the snowfall response plan with the onset of cold as snowfall occurs in many places in the district during winter.
Rukum Purba is the only district in the mountainous region in Lumbini Province and many people are affected due to snowfall during the winter.
The District Disaster Management Committee said the response plan is prepared for the support and rescue of people affected by the snowfall.
A meeting of the DDMC held at the District administration Office prepared the Snowfall Response Plan for the district.
Chief District Officer and DDMC coordinator, Raj Kumar Rai said the response plan has been readied prior to the onset of winter as the people living in the high altitude areas of the district are affected by snowfall during the winter.
The DDMC meeting has decided that all the rural municipalities in the district will collect data on the number of households likely to be affected by snowfall in the respective rural municipalities, update the data and send it to the DDMC.
The DDMC will manage the goods and materials required for the affected families.
Similarly, teams of security bodies would be kept on stand-by for mobilizing for the rescue of persons hit by disaster. Nepal Red Cross Society District Branch will mobilize for the same, CDO Rai said.
