SOS Takes Steps To Save Children From COVID-19

SOS Children’s Village (Balgram) in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has taken various measures to protect the children dependent on the village from COVID-19.
According to Ishwari Prasad Sharma, National Director of SOS Children’s Village Nepal, they have applied safety measures to protect 1,260 children staying in 10 Balgrams across the country.
Likewise, two separate rooms and health workers have been mobilised in each Balgram for isolation in case the kids test positive for the virus.
Currently, 10 Balgrams are operating in various parts of the country. Altogether 1,260 children are living in the Balgrams of Sanothimi, Banepa, Jorpati, Rambazaar, Chhorepatan in Pokhara, Bharatpur, Bhairahawa, Surkhet and Dhangadhi.
If any further complications are noticed in the health of the children, the vehicles of Balgrams, which will be kept in standby position, will take them to the hospital for treatment in coordination with nearby hospitals, said Sharma.
“The Balgrams have already restricted visitors in all the 10 villages in view of growing cases of COVID-19,” Sharma said.
