Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand Tuesday said that the government was committed to holding the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
Like the local elections held in May, the November 20 elections will be held fairly in a fearless manner, Minister Khand, central member of the Nepali Congress, who is a candidate for the five-party alliance member of the House of Representatives from Rupandehi-3, said while inaugurating the election campaign office in Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-15.
He also said the houses of landless squatters should not be demolished without proper option and management. He said that the squatters should be allowed to live in the same situation as they are now without prior management and viable option. He said that if there is a situation where they have to be moved from their place of residence, they should be moved only by giving suitable alternatives and managing them.
Home Minister Khand made this remark after some municipalities across the country have demolished the houses of squatters without any alternative on the eve of important festivals.
He said that he has instructed the Home Administration not to participate in the work of other government agencies to demolish houses. Home Minister Khand said that there is no right to criticize political parties and leaders who have no history and role.
He said that the Agricultural Wholesale Market Centre Project at Semlar in Butwal is now under the government’s policy and programme and budget, and he said that the Project should be completed and benefits reaped by the public of the place.
