STC planning to produce quality mustard oil

Salt Trading Corporation (STC) is planning to produce edible oil soon.

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Corporation on Monday, Chief Executive Officer of STC Urmila Shrestha said that they would produce edible oil of their own brand and bring it to the market at the earliest possible.

“Efforts are being made to produce STC brand mustard oil in the near future from the Hetauda-based Nepal Vanaspati Udhyog Limited to supply quality oil to our consumers,” she said.

The STC is supplying a wide range of daily consumable goods (salt, sugar, rice, pulses and beans including lentil, oil, wheat and derived products), including paper, liquefied petroleum gas and cement.

Similarly, she also said that they were working to ensure timely supply of chemical fertilisers to the farmers.

“Realising the responsibility given by the government of Nepal, we have been regularly supplying chemical fertilisers to the farmers. We are moving towards new productions and we hope to get the results in the near future,” she said.

The Corporation is playing a significant role in the field of supply and distribution by continuously providing services to the consumers even in adverse conditions, she said.

On the occasion, joint secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi said that the government was ready to support STC for the expansion of its services and make its presence strong in the market.

“There is no option but to become competitive in the market. So, the STC will make the business competitive by using the technologies and modernising businesses,” he said.

Appreciating the role of STC to supply essential goods in the urban and remote districts, Regmi said that the government would hand over responsibilities to the STC as per the organisational objective in the days to come.

On the occasion, the Corporation distributed awards to its employees and provided scholarships to two children of its employees who secured highest marks in SEE. In addition, it also provided financial support to an orphanage of Itahari, Sunsari.
