The local levels of Tanahun will get about Rs. 64 million conditional grants to run the Prime Minister Employment Programme (PMEP) in the coming fiscal year.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security will provide a grant of Rs. 64.26 million to 10 local levels of the district to run the programme in the coming fiscal year 2021/22.
With this amount provided in the first phase, about 1,084 unemployed youths of the district will get employment for at least 100 days. About 3,023 youths are registered on the unemployed list in four municipalities and six rural municipalities so far. Among all the local levels of the district, Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality will get the highest amount of grant.
The Ministry will provide a conditional grant of Rs. 10.6 million to Aanbukhaireni to operate the project based on remuneration. A total of 707 youths are registered on the unemployed list in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality.
Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality Bishnu Prasad Pokharel said that the grant provided by the ministry will provide employment to 184 people for at least 100 days.
The ministry has allocated Rs. 4.235 million conditional grant to Bandipur Rural Municipality. Only 73 people out of the total 105 listed unemployed in Bandipur will get employment.
A grant of Rs. 6.897 million has been allocated for Bhanu Municipality, Rs. 6.62 million for Vyas Municipality and Rs. 4.8 million for Shuklagandaki Municipality.There are 164 unemployed registered in Shuklagandaki Municipality, 355 in Bhanu Rural Municipality and 329 youth in Vyas Municipality.
A grant of Rs. 5.92 million has been allocated for Bhimad Municipality and Rs. 5.4 million for Devghat Rural Municipality. The ministry has also allocated Rs. 5.87 million for Myagde Municipality, Rs. 8.6 million for Rishang Rural Municipality to run the programmes.
The government has allocated Rs. 13 billion for the next fiscal year to provide employment to 200,000 unemployed youths for at least 100 days.However, the ministry has allocated Rs. 9.81 billion for 753 local levels across the country for the first phase to run the PMEP in the coming fiscal year.This amount can provide employment to 118,092 people for a minimum of 100 days.
