Time to review our past performance: ex-PM Bhattarai

Nepal Samajwadi Party chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai has stressed the need for political parties to review their performance against people’s expectations rather than engage in blaming each other.

It was the time for all political parties to review how successfully they had performed the responsibilities entrusted by history, he said in his address to the meeting of the House of Representatives on Saturday.

“How people are judging our performances. This is important. We must look see us when news about political anomalies is propping up. The government elected from the parliament dissolved the parliament twice. But, we were successful in saving it.”

The things that came to light during the recording of the explanation on the impeachment against suspended Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana have indicated how hollow was the judiciary, said the former Prime Minister.

On the citizenship bill, he said the issue should not prolong just because of political parties, and it should be issued without any pretexts.

The issue relating to two transitional commissions does not belong to any special political party but is a part of the whole peace process. So, it should not prolong, he said.

It was not enough to include Nepal’s territories, Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani, in its political and administrative map, he said, “We must revisit what we did to physically achieve the lands.”

Underscoring the need for making the constitutional commissions transparent and effective, he said there was a need to carry out the revolution in agriculture to uplift the lifestyles of people. (RSS)
