Tourists Welcomed In Rukum With Peacock Dance

Rukum (West) welcomed eight foreign tourists on Sunday. Officials from the district’s Tourism Information Centre and Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the eight Italians who arrived from Kathmandu at the district headquarters Khalanga.

Locals performed the traditional Mayur Dance and greeted the visitors, who include educational and environmental researchers, with Panche Baja. But why have such pomp and pageantry for tourists?
“It is because these are the first tourists to have come to Nepal to specifically visit Rukum (East) and Rukum (West),” said Gopal KC, who is coordinating the Italians’ travel. “They will stay in Rukum East and West for 13 days,” he informed.

In Rukum (West), they will visit the Musikot Palace, Sankhdaha, Thulidaha and the Digra Bhagwati Temple, among other places, KC said.
Pal Bahadur Khadka, coordinator of the Rukum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, called the visit extremely important to promote the tourist destinations of Rukum.
