Tsho Rolpa Finds Tourists After Two Years

Tourists have begun flocking to the Tsho Rolpa glacial lake of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality–9 after a gap of nearly two years.
Local Shriya Shrestha informed that a growing number of visitors had been visiting the glacial lake located at an altitude of 4,580 metres, which is one of the biggest glacial lakes of Nepal, since it opened to outsiders in September this year.

However, unlike the pre-pandemic days, a majority of the tourists coming to Tsho Rolpa these days are domestic ones, said hotelier Thuldu Sherpa.
“More than a thousand Nepali tourists have come here since the end of Dashain and that number is increasing day by day. We are finding it difficult to accommodate them all,” he said.
Another local Ratna Tamang said that the lake and the entire Rolwaling Valley was an attractive destination of trekkers and adventure tourists. The lake is a five-day trek from Simigaun and can be reached via Surmurche, Kyalche, Dongyang, Veding and Na.
