Two more cases of Cholera have been confirmed in Nepal from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktpur, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts on Monday. With this, the total number of cases of cholera has reached 73. Of the total 73 Cholera cases, 34 are females and 39 are males.
Dr. Chuman Lal Das, Director of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the department of health services (DoHS), said that two more cases of cholera have been recorded today.
The rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) testing conducted in the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed two cholera cases on Monday.
As per the report of the Ministry of Health and Population, 19 cases of cholera have been confirmed since August, 17.The first case of cholera of this year was reported on June 16.
Initial case investigation of the other two cases revealed that the source of drinking water was commercial jar water. 4 samples of stored tap, Jar, and groundwater from index case household and workplace found contamination with coliform.
Out of 62 water samples taken and tested jointly by the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management (DWSSM), EDCD, Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), 41 samples showed contamination with fecal E.coli.
Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board (KVWSMB) conducted a spot test of Free Residual Chlorine (FRC) in 21 tankers and out of them, 10 were found free from the FRC.
