Udayapur Cement Industry, the state-owned cement industry in the country, has been producing more than the target. The Udayapur-based industry produced 1,510 tonnes of clinker in the month of November-December (Mangsir). This production is the highest in the current fiscal year, said Gopi Neupane, general manager of the industry.
The industry had produced 9,500 tonnes of clinker in the first month of the current fiscal year July-August, 12,010 tonnes in August-September, 6,420 tonnes in September-October and 10,010 tons in October-November.
The industry has produced more clinkers in all months except in the month of Ashoj (September-October) than the set target.
The main thing of the industry is to produce quality and large quantities of clinker as the cement is produced from clinker. Along with the increase in clinker production, there has been a record in cement production and sales so far in the month of November-December (Mangsir).
According to industry records, about 10,534 tonnes of cement was produced in the month of Mangsir.
According to the industry, production target has been exceeded every month from the beginning of the current fiscal year. Around 6,710 tonnes of cement was produced in Shrawan, 7,110 tonnes in Bhadra, 6,285 tonnes in Ashoj and 5,115 tonnes in the month of Kartik.
A total of 192,615 sacks of cement were sold in the month of Mangsir. The industry had sold 107,962 bags in the month of Shrawan, 93,720 bags in Bhadra, 114,666 bags in Ashoj and 117,266 bags in Kartik.
The industry has produced 51,455 tonnes of clinker and 35754 tonnes of cement during the first five months of the current fiscal year.
It has also sold 626,229 bags of cement during the review period.
The production and sale of cement from clinker is exceeding all the targets, said Ram GC, head of Sales Department of the industry. The goal is to gradually improve the industry and increase production,” said GM Neupane. “This is the result of our efforts day and night.”
According to Neupane, Gaida cement is one of the best brands all across in Asia.
He said that they have emphasised on increasing production keeping in view the fact that the demand will increase exponentially in winter. The industry, which has a daily production capacity of 800 tonnes, had not only deteriorated in the past but had even reached the point of closure. Lately, it has been gradually on the path of improvement.
According to Neupane, the industry is now preparing to take additional production capacity. He informed that a request has been made to the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies for the required capital. The ministry is positive and the cost could be reduced by up to 15 per cent if capacity is expanded with the addition of new technology soon.
Chief of the Administration Division of the industry Kamal Raj Poudel informed that the loan assistance has been sought with a plan to repay it in three years.
