CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli and the visiting Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, Li Zhanshu, have held talks. The two leaders held a courtesy meeting at the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor, this morning, the UML party officials said.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various topics of mutual interest, it is stated. In the meeting, the main opposition party leader Oli was accompanied by Ashta Laxmi Shakya, Subas Nembang, Dr Rajan Bhattarai, and Anjan Shakya, among other party leaders.
Chairman Zhanshu arrived here on Monday at the friendly invitation of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota. Speaker Sapkot and the Chinese dignitary held delegation-level talks at the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor the same day. They also signed a letter of agreement in exchange for cooperation on the occasion.
Chairman Li will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba this afternoon. He will also hold a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Narayan Khadka later today. He will pay a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on September 14.
The Chinese delegation will make an observation visit to the Bhaktapur Durbar area to see the structures reconstructed after the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake.
Li’s delegation comprises 67 persons including six high-ranking officers, security personnel, journalists and other staff.
CPC Chairperson Li and his delegation will return home on September 15 on a special flight. (RSS)
