University should be free from politics: PM Deuba

Prime Minister and Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said the university should be free from politics and should focus its attention on academic study and research.

Addressing the first phase of the 28th Convocation Ceremony organised at Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchowk today, Prime Minister Deuba shared that the KU had been contributing to the country’s economic and social development by producing creative, skilled and capable human resources under different faculties by imparting them quality and technical education for the past three decades.

“University is the holy place for educational activities that help students develop their knowledge, skill and capacity and enhance their hidden talents and creativity, and use them for the welfare of the society and country.”

Stating that the University has its own prestige and identity in higher education of the country, he said it was a moment of pride as the products of the University had been serving home and abroad by engaging with various organisations.

He also thanked the graduated students from the University. On the occasion, a total of 1,699 students under various faculties graduated from the University. (RSS)
