A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday demanding recognition of the digital currency. The writ calls for the annulment of Nepal Rastra Bank’s decision to not provide legal recognition to digital currencies including cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The writ petition was filed by Advocate Sagar Baral and others in the Supreme Court.
The petition has been filed with the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Nepal Rastra Bank, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Nepal Police Police Headquarters as opponents. A preliminary hearing on the application will be held next Monday.
