Tribhuvan Army Club finished team champions of the 44th National Athletics that concluded at Dasarath Stadium, Kathmandu on Sunday. Army topped the medal tally with 18 gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals.
AFP Club bagged nine gold, six silver and eight bronze medals to remain at the second position. Bagmati Province trailed at third place with three gold, two silver and six bronze medals.
Nepal Police Club pocketed the remaining two out of 32 gold medals. Police also collected three silver and four bronze medals. A total of ten teams competed in the championship. Six teams, however, failed to win any gold medal.
With three gold and one sivler medals, Shivaraj Parki of APF Club was named best male athletes of the event.
Likeiws, Jayarani Tharu of Army claimed four gold medals to be declared best femal athletes.
She also scripted her name in the national record books of the athletics. She broke the national mark in women’s 100meters and 400meters hurdles.
The event saw three new national records. The other record also set in the hurdles of men’s 110meters by Jivan Tharu. Army’s Tharu also won two gold and two silver medals.
A total of 240 athletes took part in the three-day-long tournament.
