Newcastle started their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win over West Ham United thanks to debut goals from Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick.
After another frustrating summer on the takeover front, Newcastle fans could be forgiven for going into the new season full of doom and gloom.
Wilson was constantly involved throughout the game, proving examples of his excellent touch and movement which caused problems for the Hammers defence.
Hendrick then grabbed a goal of his own with a well taken finish, which was reward for the Irishman’s constant running over the 90 minutes.
With Ryan Fraser still to get match-fit and to be introduced into this, there could be some exciting times ahead at St.James’ Park.
