National Sports Council (NSC) honoured 13 players with a cash prize on Monday.
Players from Para-Taekwondo, Badminton, Volleyball, Boxing, Athletics and Triathlon have been felicitated with a cash award and appreciation letter.
NSC handed over Para-Taekwondo player Palesha Goverdhan and Badminton player Prince Dahal with a cash prize of Rs. 150,000 each.
Govardhan, who made history by winning two bouts in the Tokyo Paralympics, won a gold medal in Asian Youth Para Games.
Likewise, boxers Narika Rai, Swastika Tiruwa and Tsering Sherpa received Rs. 100,000 each. All three boxers won the bronze medals in the Asian Youth and Junior Boxing held in the UAE.
NSC also presented Para-Taekwondo player Srijana Ghising with Rs. 100,000 for winning a silver medal during World President Cup Championship.
Similarly, South Asian Cross Country participant Rajpura Pachhai, Dhaka Marathon silver medalist Puspa Bhandari and Women’s Volleyball captain Aruna Shahi for defending the title of Central Zone Volleyball Challenge Cup were honoured with a cash of Rs. 50,000 each.
Likewise, Soni Gurung and Basant Tharu of Triathlon received Rs. 50,000 for winning the bronze medal at International Triathlon held in Pokhara. The Asian Games Qualifiers bronze medalist Ranjana Dhami of Para-Taekwondo and Youth Asian Games bronze medallist Bishal Gaburja of Para-Taekwondo also were feted with Rs. 50,000.
Minister for Youth and Sports Maheswor Jung Gahatraj, Vice President of NSC Shiva Koirala, Member Secretary of NSC Tanka Lal Ghising and NSC member Chandra Bandana, coordinator of the function, honoured those players.
