Royal Rhinos clinch NAV Cup, multicultural cricket to begin from 14th April

Nepalese Association of Victoria, an organizing dedicated to bring closer Nepalis in Australia and Nepal amongst various cultural, recreational and educational activities hosts an annual cricket tournament too. This year’s champions are Royal Rhinos Cricket Club. Defeating Himalayan Hurricanes, Royal Rhinos has clinched its first NAV Cricket Trophy. Playing in the tournament for the first time, Royal Rhinos chased a target of 92 runs within 12 overs. They won the match by seven wickets. The man of the match was awarded to Chiranjivi Neupane.

Best Wicket-keeper: Manish Khakurel
Best fielder: Kamlesh Ghimire

The title sponsor of the tournament was Expert Education and Visa Services.

Honorary Consulate General to Victoria was the chief-guest to the final match and him, along with Hussain Hanif of Multiculutural Cricket and Dr. Anupam Pokharel, president of NAV, Jog Limbu, a respected elderly of the Nepali community, Bom Yonzon, ex-president of NAV, and Saroj Sharma of Expert Group distributed the prizes to the deserving awardees.

NAV is also going to organize a multicultural cricket tournament in April, 2018. A total of eight teams will be playing in the tournament which shall be held on 14th, 5th and 22nd April. From the eight, three teams will be Nepali teams – namely winners Royal Rhinos, runners-up Himalayan Club, and Gorkhali Cricket club. The remaining 5 will be represented by cricket clubs of other cultural communities. As per an agreement with Cricket Australia, which was signed some time ago, for the first time in history, the live scores were featured in the website of Australian Cricket. It was also announced that a community team from Victoria will participate in the upcoming Oceania Sports Meet which will be organized in Sydney, this coming Easter.
