Social worker Dr Bishnu Maya Pariyar has been honoured with the Women Active Award by the New Jersey City of the USA on the occasion of the Women History Month.
The Month is observed throughout the March, commemorating and encouraging the study, observation and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.
The Award was handed down to Pariyar, who is also advisor to the New Jersey’s Mayor, on Wednesday in recognition to her contribution and able leadership to advance the causes of the marginalized communities in New Jersey City.
According to Chief Editor of usnepalonline.com Pradeep Pariyar, New Jersey Council Watch TPS resolution was passed for the Nepalese in the US in her leadership in 2015 and 2018.
Dr Pariyar was also recognized for her effort to hoist the Nepali national flag in the City Hall of the US through New Jersey Mayor Steven Fulop for the first time on June 30, 2017 in honour of the Nepal and Nepalese.
It is for the first time Nepali national flag was kept at any American government’s office.
Dr Pariyar, who originally hails from Gorkha district, is also the emissary for New Jersey and Indrawati Rular Municipality in Gorkha district. Both these places cultivated sister-city relations on January 24, 2019.
She has been awarded with more than two dozens of international awards.
