Nepali sensation Arthur Gunn finishes second in American Idol 2020, Just Sam first


Dibesh Pokhrel, who goes by the stage name Arthur Gunn, has finished second in American Idol 2020. Just Sam, (Samantha Diaz), a  New York subway singer with Liberian roots has been crowned the winner.

Arthur Gunn was voted runner’s up, and Just Sam the winner in the season finale after garnering the real-time votes on Sunday. Gunn sang his version of Creedence Clearwater Revivial’s ‘Have you ever seen the rain’. and Gavin DeGraw’s ‘I don’t want to be’ in the season finale, and was received tremendously well by judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

Meanwhile, for Dibesh Pokhrel, born in 1997, this achievement means making history. He has shown tremendous talent and huge potential, and his feat could mean a start to a promising career in music.

Arthur Gunn (Dibesh Pokhrel) was born and brought up in Kathmandu, Nepal, and has credited the soulful city to developing his passion for music. He moved to Kansas six years ago, and has been living in the US since.

His rendition of CCD’s ‘Have you ever seen the rain’ impressed the judges of American Idol, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie. He continued his progress with other impressive performances, and finally finished second in the highly prestigious competition.
