Twelve Nepalis living in Victoria have been infected with COVID-19 so far. Of the 12, 8 are active cases, and 4, who had been infected in March and April, have already recovered.
Of the 8 active cases, four are isolating at various hotels, and four are isolating at home. Health situation of all infected are said to be stable, and recovering.
According to Prem Prasad Kandel, Vice-President of NRNA Australia and Co-ordinator of NRNA Victoria, the infected include students to one NRNA Australia member. Kandel has wished them a speedy recovery, and has assured the community that NRNA along with assistance of the broader community, has been assisting the infected patients through their recovery.
NRNA Australia has been providing members who are diagnosed with COVID-19 a relief package of AUD 120 towards purchase of grocery and other essential items. At certain times, members of NRNA themselves have delivered the food supply to the infected’s house.
Besides, NRNA, community organisations such as Nepalis in Victoria (NAV), Didi Baini Samaj Australia have also been extending their assistance and support towards the community.
