Extreme cold has hit Australia’s south-east region – in NSW, BOM (Bureau of Meteorology) has warned its residents to brace itself for ‘Antarctic winds’, blowing from south of Tasmania. The ‘cold’ is expected to last through the weekend, with winds exceeding 90km/h for the Illawarra, high parts of the south coast, the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and the Snowy Mountains.

In NSW, residents of Blue Mountains and surrounding areas woke up to a beautiful snowfall – Twitter has been ablaze with ecstatic snow pictures. Here, we share a few with you:
