Melbourne, Australia:

Victoria has recorded four new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading to Tuesday, 16th February, 2021. Of the four cases, two were detected in returning Australians and are in hotel quarantine, and the other two are locally acquired infections and are linked to the Holiday Inn Cluster.

The two new locally acquired cases are known household contacts of the Holiday Inn cluster, and had already been isolating upon realisation as close contacts.

Victoria entered a snap five day lockdown on 12th February, Friday, 11:59 pm onward. The lockdown, supposed to act as a circuit breaker, reimposed Stage 4 restrictions on all Victorians, and is scheduled to end on Wednesday, 17th February, 11:59 p.m, unless stated otherwise.

Meanwhile Victorian Premier Andrews has said the state is still well-placed for the lockdown to end on Wednesday night, but the next day is “crucial”.
