Senior Bankers of Nepal meet in Melbourne, Australia. (Dec, 2019)

Prominent bankers of Nepal, community members of the Nepali Diaspora including banking specialists will meet and engage in a fruitful discussion in Coburg, Victoria on Saturday (15th February, 2020) – thanks to a unique initiative by Melbourne Mind Express. The initiative, a first of the kind for the Nepali Diaspora in Victoria is being organized in association with Non-Resident Nepalese Association of Victoria and Yeti Football Club.

The program will see the enthusiastic participation of Mrs. Shubhi Pandey, Compliance Executive and Operations Manager of Kubota Australia Pty Ltd, who is hailed as a compliance guru within the community, and several esteemed banking personalities representing established financial institutions in Nepal.

According to Sudeep Maskey, Program Coordinator at Melbourne Mind Express, “the interactive program will discuss upon the current banking structure and services offered by banking, finance and insurance industry of Nepal. Peers and attendees will also suggest reviews.”

Touching note upon a pertinent issue affecting the Nepali community in Australia, the panel will also discuss upon the current limitations of remittance services provided by the Nepal Rastra Bank and other commercial institutions. Lack of effective policies towards legal remittance increases the vulnerability of customers who wish to send money home – often suffering due to the malpractices of the Hundi system.

According to Maskey, the interaction will also discuss upon the future possibilities of extending service of Nepalese banks to Australian cities. Bankers will also discuss overseas income verification and credit facilities to businesses and individuals with overseas employment and businesses.

The interaction program will be held on the 15th of February, 2020 at Coburg Library Meeting Hall.
