Four people on board a cruise ship that docked in Sydney Harbour have tested positive for coronavirus after getting off the ship and returning home.
The three passengers and crew member were among 13 tested on the Ruby Princess, which was in the city yesterday.
The passengers disembarked before their results came back, while the crew member stayed on the ship.
“One of those passengers has been admitted to a Sydney-based hospital in a serious condition.” NSW Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said.
One person travelled home to Tasmania and has since tested positive to the virus, taking the ship’s number of cases to four.
All passengers and crew who got off the ship in Sydney were asked to self-isolate, and today the NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard reinforced how important it was that people take this advice seriously.
