Human remains found in the Murray River at Albury could possibly be of missing Nepali student, Bigul Pandit. Fishermen found the remains on Thursday close to where Mr. Pandit had disappeared.
Pandit, a 21 year old accounting student had failed to surface while swimming with friends in January, 2019. His body could not be found despite an extensive search operation. ‘
Detective Inspector Winston Woodward said there was a “good possibility” that the human remains, found by recreational fishermen on Thursday afternoon, belonged to Mr Pandit. Inspector Woodward said police had not yet confirmed the body was Mr Pandit’s through forensic testing, but his family was told about the discovery by detectives last night and they understood the situation.
A charming and happy fellow, Mr. Pandit was a very talented student at Charles Sturt University. He was swimming in the river for the first time. The entire community and the town of Albury grieved the loss of Mr. Pandit. The finding of his body is expected to bring closure to the family of Pandit, as per a relative.
