Hurstville: Boy dies after being struck by a car near school

A boy has died, and a man is in custody following a fatal single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s south today.

About 8.40am (Friday 6 September 2019), emergency services were called to Forest Road, Hurstville, following reports a single-vehicle crashed, causing it to roll onto a pedestrian.

A 12-year-old boy was trapped under the vehicle and released a short time later. He was on his way to Sydney Technical High School, where he studied and a short distance from the scene of accident.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man, was arrested at the scene by officers from St George Police Area Command and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
