Melbourne, Australia – This year’s Nepal Festival Sydney is set to be held on Saturday, 19th of November, 2022 at Burwood Park, New South Wales, one of the central/prime locations. Nepal Festival is a significant event hosted in celebration of togetherness and harmony. With the origin from Sydney in 2006, Nepal Festival has been able to extend its mission to promote Nepalese culture by organizing the event in other major cities of the world as well.
Nepal Festival Sydney (NFS) is organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Australia, NSW Coordination Committee every two years with the exception of the year 2020 in which the event was in a halt due to COVID-19. Since the big success from the start, it has become one of the most exciting events that Nepalese as well as people from various cultures anticipate to attend.
When asked about the reasoning behind Nepal Festival Sydney being so special in an interview with the Vice-President NRNA/State Coordinator and NFS Coordinator, Deb B. Gurung said, “Nepal Festival Sydney has been growing since the start as it has been an event for the Nepalese living in a foreign land to connect with each other. However, I have seen that the conversations and connections are not just limited within our Nepalese culture. It extends from us to people from other multicultural communities as well forming a sense of unity.” Deb B. Gurung believes that this is a platform which has been used to contribute to the Nepalese community by showcasing our culture, religion, language, food, attire, and identity on an international level.
It was announced that this year Nepal Festival Sydney has selected the title sponsor to be Queensford College and as part of entertainment to the audience, Deepak Bajracharya and The Rhythm Band as well as other guest and Sydney-based artists have been invited. The Prime Minister of Australia, Hon. Anthony Albanese MP and many other ministers are said to have been requested for their presence at this traditional event. It was also shared that the organizing committee decided to choose a different venue this year in view of the fact that with the growth of the populace visiting the festival, the standard requirement for the venue has changed. More than 10,000 people are expected to be a part of the upcoming Nepal Festival Sydney 2022.
From Sydney, this event has been introduced in further major cities of Australia like Melbourne and then has been extending continuously in other parts of the entire world. Started by a Nepali for other Nepali people, Nepal Festival has been growing which has been a matter of pride for the entire Nepalese community.
