My Nepal Television (MNTV) Australia is all set to kickstart its second phase of Hall of Fame II – a global, online singing competition. Aimed at unlocking the talents of the global Nepali Diaspora, the program was met with an overwhelming number of participation in its first phase.
“We received more than 300 applications from more than 12 countries. We have shortlisted them to Top 50, and are now on track to begin our scheduled programs”, spokesperson for MNTV Hall of Fame said.
The Top 50 participants will now be facing virtual cameras, and will be judged by:
Deep Shrestha:
Deep Shrestha is an iconic and a highly acclaimed figure in the Nepalese Music and Entertainment Industry. Born in Dharan, Mr. Shrestha started his professional music career after impressing Late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev of Nepal. It is said the king was enchanted with the performance of Deep Shrestha in a program at Rashtriya Nachghar and allowed him to record as many songs as he wished to.
Since then, Mr. Shrestha shot to the stars, and has made an impressionable stamp in the industry.
With a number of popular hits and several awards under his belt, Deep Shrestha has agreed to judge the participants at MNTV Hall of Fame, and has agreed to mentor and guide them throughout their musical journey with MNTV Hall of Fame.
Bivek Shrestha:
There are a very few people who do not know Bivek Shrestha, or his band Kandara. Hailing from the paradise like town of Pokhara, the band Kandara and Bivek Shrestha have been pivotal in establishing Nepal’s folk-pop genre within Nepal’s musical industry.
Shrestha who is still an energetic force in Nepal’s musical industry has agreed to judge the talents of Nepal via MNTV Hall of Fame.
“Spending 20 years of my life outside Nepal, I have always wanted to connect with the global Diaspora – especially with the power of music. Therefore, MNTV Hall of Fame seemed like a suitable platform for me and global music lovers to connect, hence I agreed to become involved with the project”, Bivek Shrestha shared.
Rajina Rimal:
Singing since the age of 6, Rajina hasn’t stopped since. Growing up to the tunes of Lata Mangeshkar from her father’s collection, Rajina has paid a fitting tribute to her via her contributions to Nepal’s music industry.
She recorded her first song, ‘Basanta Ko’ at the age of 12 which was offered to her by legendary musician Samrat Thapa. She released her first album “Pari” as a result of the efforts of two laborious years.
Rimal has also been taking classical singing classes under the guidance of Sangeeta Rana for past few years and has had the opportunities to sing as a playback singer in more than 50 Nepali movies like “Saput” and “Mr. Mangalay”.
Rimal is a talented and celebrated singer, and has agreed to share her experience and skills with the participants of Hall of Fame and will be judging MNTV Hall of Fame.
