Meeting program with the founders of NAV, who are preparing to celebrate the Silver Jubilee


Melbourne, Australia A meeting has taken place between the working committee members and founding members of the Nepalese Society of Victoria (NAV), which is preparing to celebrate the Silver Jubilee.

A meeting was held on February 26 at the Consulate General in Victoria between the current chairman of NAV, Ram Gurung, the members of the working committee and the founding members of NAV. The first Nepali to arrive in Victoria was Bharansher Rai. During the meeting, the initial story of the establishment of NAV, the purpose of the establishment of the organization at that time, the journey and progress of NAV were discussed. He expressed confidence that the NAV, which is preparing to celebrate the Silver Jubilee, would move forward more effectively in the days to come. In the discussion program, Mahail was thrilled by the memories of the old days exchanged by the founding members. Stating that it has been a decade since the founding members met, the present working committee was also thanked for setting the date for the meeting.

NAV chairman Ram Gurung said that they were following the path of the elders and always needed their advice and suggestions. NAV is also making a historical documentary to present at the 25th anniversary celebrations. It has been informed that Shri Ram Aryal will do the technical work including camera and Sushil Chalise will direct the production of the documentary. A meeting held on June 19, 1994, decided to open the organization to all people of Nepali descent living in Victoria. According to the same decision, Naples / Gurkha community was established. The organization was later renamed the Naples Association of Victoria. The main objective of this organization is to fulfill any obligation required for the benefit of all Nepalis living in Victoria and later. Its main responsibility will be to organize the Nepalis and to solve the problems that may befall any member of the organization. ” The minutes of the first meeting of the then NAV stated the objectives of the NAV.
