Nepal Airlines is preparing to fly to Australia again, thanks to the efforts of the Australian Embassy in Nepal. The flight is expected to depart on the first week of May (dates are subject to change), and on it will be 240 stranded Australians in Nepal.
Earlier, on 1st April, 2020, Nepal Airline’s wide-bodied jet, captained by Capt. Bijay Lama had flown 252 stranded Australians and New Zealanders to Brisbane. The passengers were required to undergo a mandatory 14 day quarantine before they were allowed to reach their homes.
As per sources, this time, the Embassy will be assigning the responsibility of ticketing, luggage handling, and other actitivities to the Nepal Airlines Corporation itself. Earlier, for the flight that departed on 1st April, 2020, they had entrusted the resposnsibility to Bon Travel and Tours, however they have been mired in a corruption related scandal since.
The Australian Embassy in Nepal has requested stranded citizens/permanent residents to contact them.
