The Nepali community in Victoria has issued an urgent and important message after a community member tested positive for Covid-19.
| “If you, or your friends or family, went to the Function Centre (previously Big Bellys), at 426 Sydney Rd, Coburg on Saturday 6 February, between 7:14pm and 11:30pm you must get a COVID-19 test, and remain isolated for 14 days”, the information, as released by NRNA Victoria read. “Please get tested immediately if you have any symptoms of coronavirus, such as a cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell. Getting tested is safe and free for everyone. This includes people without a Medicare card, such as visitors from overseas, migrant workers and asylum seekers”, the circular further reads. |
If you were in attendance of the party, or fall under close contacts, you must immediately,
- Isolate and monitor for symptoms,
- Let all people who you have come in contact with know that you are a suspect,
- Provide all possible contacts to DHHS contact tracers.
- TO NOT PANIC.
The message, as circulated by NRNA Victoria, it has advised members first and foremost to ‘not panic’ if you were in attendance of the party, or fall under close contacts.
NRNA Victoria has also said that all information shared with DHHS will be confidential, and if one is worried about loss of wages or other financial insecurities, there are different kinds of assistance available.
