New restrictions for Victoria after state records five new cases of Covid-19

Melbourne, Victoria:

Victoria has recorded five new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday. The five cases are in addition to the three new cases reported on Wednesday, taking the number of cases linked to NSW’s Avalon Cluster to 8. All eight cases are linked to a restaurant where a New South Wales traveller dined on December 21.

Meanwhile, the Victorian Government has announced new restrictions:

  1. Masks will be mandatory for Victorians in any location outside their own home, except when they are eating or drinking.
  2. Number of visitors allowed in Victoria for New Year’s Eve household gatherings has been reduced from 30 to 15.

The Victorian Government will also be shutting its border with NSW from 11:59 pm on Friday, 1st January, 2021. Victorians, who arrive back from NSW after Friday will have to go into mandatory hotel quarantine.
