NRN Australia has so far registered more than 16,000 applications.


The Non-Resident Nepali Association Australia has so far registered the highest number with 16,394 members. This is the largest number of members ever, said Deb Gurung, vice president of NRNA Australia. Last time, NRN Australia had only 11,800 members.

This time, the number of lifetime members has reached 1,550 and 14,328 have become registered members. Similarly, there are 287 associate members.

The number of members applying for membership from New South Wales is 6,150. Last time it was only 4,446. Similarly, the number of registered membership applications from the state of Victoria is 2129. Previously, there were only 2,000 members. This time, 1,394 have applied for membership from the state of Queensland, 759 from Western Australia and 1,391 from Hobart.

The number of registered members from South Australia is 1889. Similarly, 1,109 people have registered from the Northern Territory, while 1,357 people have registered from the Australian Capital Territory in Canberra, the capital of Australia.

Incumbent Vice President Deb Gurung, General Secretary Gyanendra Regmi and Spokesperson Nandu Gurung are seen as the main aspirants for the post of NRN Australia in this election which is being watched with interest by the Nepali society.

Vice President Deb Gurung said that the main reason for the increase in membership is that the membership registration system is more modern than before and there is less hassle and accuracy. Complaints can be lodged with the concerned body if there is any contradiction in the membership and it should be fair and impartial, he said, adding that everyone had taken initiative to cooperate in this regard.
