NSW records one new local case of Covid-19, Victoria records zero new local cases for seventh consecutive day


Sydney, Australia:

NSW recorded one new locally acquired case of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. There were 20,664 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 14,738.

Six cases were also recorded in returned travellers, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,852, as per NSW Health.

The locally acquired case is linked to the Berala cluster and is a close contact of previously reported cases. There are now 28 cases associated with the Berala cluster.

Melbourne, Australia:

Meanwhile Victoria has recorded its seventh consecutive day without any new cases of local transmission.

Three new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Victoria’s hotel quarantine on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 35.

About 17,908 test results were received in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning.
