An alleged drunk driver has been charged with 20 offences following a car crash in Sydney which left four children dead and three others injured.
The out-of-control 4WD ploughed into the group walking along Bettington Road in Oatlands, near Parramatta, on Feb 1 at about 8pm. The 29-year-old driver and a 24-year-old male passenger were uninjured and the driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
The driver has been identified as 29 year old Samuel Davidson. He was then taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for further testing and was charged with multiple offences related to the incident.
The driver has now been charged with 20 offences including four counts of manslaughter, four counts of dangerous driving occasioning death as well as grievous bodily harm, drink driving, and driving through a red traffic light.
Davidson’s case was heard at Parramatta Bail Court today. Mr Davidson did not appear and there was no application for bail.
The case has been adjourned until April 2 at Parramatta Local Court.
