Sydney, Australia: A man was shot in a Riverwood home in Sydney’s south triggering two police operations to catch the gunman.
Emergency services were called to Methuen Parade responding to reports a man had been shot inside a home about 6.20am (Wednesday 11 November 2020). Investigators are waiting to interview the victim, a 30 year old man suffering gunshot wounds to his legs.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command established a perimeter around the home and called specialist police to assist.
According to NSW Police, “Negotiators attempted to speak with the occupants and about 7.30am, a man and a woman left the home voluntarily and were taken to Campsie Police Station”.
Officers attached to the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) entered the home before 10am and cleared the building; concluding the police operation at Riverwood. A crime scene has been established at the home and is being examined by scene of crime officers.
About the same time, information was received that a man sought in connection with the shooting was at a home in Kennedy Street, Picnic Point.
Specialist police moved from Riverwood to Picnic Point and an operation commenced.
The operation concluded at Picnic Point shortly before 12.30pm.
Inquiries are now continuing by Campsie detectives; they hope to speak with the injured man once he is deemed well enough.
