A knife wielding man has been chased by Sydney public, held down, and handed over to the authorities.

Around 1: 30 p.m., during lunch time, public in the city were witness to a man running crazily on the streets with a knife in his hand. The man was ‘smeared in blood’, and was being chased by a man who was accusing him of stabbing a woman.

Video footage shows the perpetrator climb atop a car showing his knife. The vehicle drives forward and he rolls off the back before walking away, chased by members of the public.
He screams: “Shoot me, fucking shoot me in the fucking head, shoot me, I want to fucking die.”
In separate footage members of the public and firefighters restrain him on the ground with cafe chairs and milk crates.
Another man appears to run in and kick him, yelling: “Do you know how many people you just stabbed?” He tells others around them that the assailant had stabbed a woman, and then swallowed a bottle of pills.
